The West Prong Little River can be seen a lot as it nears US 441 across the Great Smoky Mountain NP. The river gets its name from the Passenger Pigeon that was once were very abundant here. Sadly they become extinct in Tennessee in 1893, and total extinction in the very early 1900’s.
