Church Bell by Gary L Suddath

Canvas Prints

Available to buy on…

The church bell can be traced back to around 400AD It was rang not for only religious purposes like calling the faithful to prayer but for alerting the population in case of any oncoming danger, or to attend any service like wedding, funeral or any other service conducted by the church. The bells were also used in the earlier days to alert the people on important events as well as to gather them for any important news…To ring the bell, the bell ringer pulls on the rope, swinging the bell. The motion causes the clapper to hit the inside rim of the bell as it swings, making the sound. This Bell is found hanging in the Primitive Baptist Church steeple. The church is located in Cades Cove, GSMNP

You caught a good angle on this, and you did an amazing job in balancing the exposure, this was a tricky one.

Beautiful shot, Gary! There was a wedding in process at this old church last time I was in the cove. So, I missed getting pictures of this one. I’ll be going to Chattanooga next week with my mother, I’m trying to talk her into another drive through the cove while we are in the area. I just love this place!
