There is a time for everybody

I felt it
At the back of my head
Inside
An incessant scratching
As each day would pass
I noticed
That it had moved
Further away
Closer to the top
Was something trying to get out?
A searing pain
Made me double over
In that moment;
Like a segmented orange,
My face peeled back
My skull split open
Not knowing what else to do
I reached in and
Pulled out an egg
I smeared away the blood
And held it close
For days I lay
Split
The keeper of the egg
Eventually ( as most eggs do)
It started to rock and a
Crack appeared
Fascinated
I peered beneath a flap of skin
Amazed to see
A little one climb out
It was me!
She took my large hand in
Both of hers
Her eyes met mine
And said;
“It’s OK
I am here now
You can go.”
With that she
Gathered me up
And swallowed me whole
Held in her belly
The Mother cradles
Me now
