The choice is yours

I regret to inform you
That …
Really?
Or
How are you?
Why do you ask if
Our eyes don’t meet?
Or
Have you heard…
Peter just died so we
Mustn’t
Disturb his wife…
So
For a year
She sat alone
Her life in pieces
Nobody called and
If per chance she
Bumped into someone
On the street
The topic of conversation was
Wide indeed;
The machinations of the weather…

The gift of
Humanity must not be
Forgotten…
Be fearful and do
What’s necessary anyway…
Make eye contact
Comfort the widow
Hold the hand of
Your lover and be
His friend
And above all else
Don’t lose faith.

The choice is yours

Artist's Description

i’m constantly reminded; as i go about my day, of the lack of engagement in western society… some is habit, some is fear, some is time poor and yet we have this wonderful gift and to not use it… this is a jot about that.
