A blip

A profound silence
Blankets the Earth
Not even a ghostly
Mourn to recount
What was…
The Manikins have had
Their final say
Annihilation is their
No colour remains
No movement;
Apart from
A foul wind
That sends up
Little eddies
Of toxic ash
The seas
The lakes
The rivers
Grey like the sky
The sun and moon
No longer a part
Of this tormented landscape
No more tides
No more life
Once a blue planet
A beacon in an
Otherwise lifeless solar system
Now it orbits
Without a heart
The angels peer down
In dismay
Their tears
Unable to penetrate the bloom

And so the Old Crone
Sits and waits
Her udders
Dried up
Her womb shrivelled
Her craggy teeth
Yet her patience
Is endless
For within her
A robust heart beats
Time is needed to heal
Such a profound rent
Yet she has all the
Time in ‘the world…’

there are 3 parts to this jot.
the manikins are the humans and the crone represents ‘mother earth’
