Forgotten

Where are you
My child?
I see you
In the myriad of faces
As they pass by
You are there
Yet not
Every moment without you
An eternity
So I wait
I cannot breathe
I cannot eat
I dare not sleep
Less I miss sight
Of you
How could I know
When I said goodbye
That morning
It would most likely be
The last…
I had no feeling
In the pit of my stomach
No heart wrench
No inkling
It seemed just
An ordinary day
Like any other
So I plaster your image
On poles
Give interviews
And beg you to
Come home
For the life of me
I cannot fathom
Rhyme or reason
Of the why
Am I a bad mother?
Did I do something wrong?
