The Branch Improves the View
Yet another black and white from my book “Snow Man is My Friend.” I post it only because I haven’t had time lately (and have been much to lazy) to do anything new. Still, it’s a pretty nice little drawing, no?
The Branch Improves the View belongs to the following groups:
Everything Winter, Pencil Drawing (2 per 24 hrs) and Trees - 2 images per day with trees as the focal point Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

nice drawing. yes, the branch does improve the view…at least until it snaps and leaves a little boy with a broken arm and a newly deformed tree ;)
Steven Novak replied
Then they could share in the pain of their physical deformities and become better friends because of it. (Hey, there’s a book idea in there somewhere) ;)

sweet :)

Thanks!
Jan Landers
it’s an awesome drawing….so glad you did post it…i feel more connected to this than some…my tree-hugging spirit, i guess…..i really like it, steven….thanks for sharing…..
Steven Novak replied
Glad you liked it Jan. I’ve heard many times from people in California (where I live) that they can tell I’m from the midwest originally because of the kind of trees I constantly draw.
red addiction
How long have you been drawing? You are awesome!! I tried to draw lastnight and well let’s just say I threw the drawing pad across the room.
Steven Novak replied
Pretty much since I started not sticking crayons in my mouth and instead sticking them on paper. Also, you should never throw things…and if you do, make sure it is at someone. ;)
Karin Taylor
..steven, you are so talented :)
Steven Novak replied
Yeah, you’re right. (Oh, I bet you expected me to be more humble, right?) ;)
Walker Everette
Nice tree.
Steven Novak replied
Thanks.
hikickry
very nice, you’re busy at the moment :)
Steven Novak replied
It seems like I’m always busy at the moment. Which is both a good thing and a very, very bad thing. Sleeping is so much easier. ;)
Jen Cannella
Yet another beautiful work of art from you…I love this!
Steven Novak replied
Thanks Jen!
BLYTHART
You have a lovely clean cinfident style .. I admire your work immensely Steven.
Steven Novak replied
I admire my work as well. (I’ve decided that it’s opposite day so I’ve traded my usual humble, self deprecation, for a more confident, annoying , total jerk tone) ;)
ElRobbo
Excellent Steve! Excellent!
Do you have any more Black & White’s?
Steven Novak replied
I have a ton more black and whites, which I will no doubt toss up when I am out of new work yet again. (Which will likely be sooner than later) Thanks Robbo!
Tahnja
It’s wonderful and I just love the way he’s seated and looking away, so expressive. Wonderful work
Steven Novak replied
Thanks Tahnja! When I drew it I briefly considered putting some kind of background in, but I think it works better with just the white.
Douzy
Yes awesome drawing indeed!
Steven Novak replied
Would you say it’s a “douzy” of a drawing? Huh? Get it? (Sorry, lame joke) ;) THANKS!
Brandon Stewart
Very cool work. Just all around amazing.
Steven Novak replied
Thanks Seven!

Nice, very sweet drawing, what no zombies, maybe when the sun goes down. Love your B&W sketches lots
Steven Novak replied
I do sometimes draw things other than zombies. In fact I never really drew them much before I became a redbubble member. You’ve all been bad influences on me. ;)
Rhana Griffin
Still, it’s a pretty nice little drawing, no?
I’m hoping that is a rhetorical question because I promised no more nice for you.
Lazyarse ;)
Steven Novak replied
Awww, how sweet. ;)

As today (9th April 2008) is Opposite Day for Steven, I’d better revise my comment to read, “I admire your work almost as much as you do,” and then tomorrow you can return to your usual self-effacing and humble self and thank me for my generous compliment :)) Of course, I am only joking (see your reply to my recent comment) but seriously, it’s not alway good to be too humble about your work, or others may start to agree :)
Paul Tupman
Brilliant work.. love your style.. the tree looks fantastic and this image tells a story all of its own.. the book as a whole must be a real joy to see. I could also quite happily sit up in that tree watching the view…
Steven Novak replied
Thanks Paul. I’m actually pretty proud of the book. Think it came out well. (Which is something I rarely say about my work) ;)
Helene Kippert

I really like this one…...it takes me back to my childhood when I would climb a large tree my family had in the front yard, as high as I could, and just sit there enjoying the view…..
Steven Novak replied
I did that as well. Until I fell and broke my arm. Damn jerk trees. ;)
Abdelaziz Alsa...

Yes, this is an excellent drawing, and brings me back to my childhood to my favorite tree to climb where I could sit up high, all alone, and dream and be me…
