Brand Spankin' New Self Portrait

There was a bit of experimentation going on in this one for me. Watercolor, charcoal, colored pencil, pencil, marker, ink, and a wonderful photo of my not so handsome face were used to pull this thing together.

Quite surprisingly, I don’t hate it.

I know, I know…me not hating something that I’ve done is no doubt the first sign of the coming apocalypse. I’m sorry that a pathetic self portrait by a nobody you’ve never met had to bring forth armageddon, but I guess that’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

Or I suppose the way the earth crumbles…as the case may be.

quite interesting really….i notice there is not an angel on the other shoulder, so i guess the smirking devil on the other won the toss….mixed media is always fun…interesting…

what i see is a man struggling to fight off all the labels that have been hung on him. The head it seems is lowered with the weight of this nonsense and the red window on the right eye lets the vision of the artist out. For me it is a very contemporary self portrait using mixed media powered by an alert sense of satire…... lol :)
