The Ghost of Margaret O'Toole

The Ghost of Margaret O'Toole

I did this one quite a while ago. I was never completely satisfied with it. Don’t get me wrong, there are some things I like about it, but (as is the case with pretty much everything I’ve ever made) it looked a lot better in my head than it ended up looking when it was finished.

Damn useless, unable to completely create what’s in my brain right hand!

Don’t worry though, I made it pay.

I whacked it with a hammer a couple of times.

I consider it tough love.

Looks good. But I see what you mean. I think its that suggestive pose Margaret is holding that doesn’t look right. Make her 50 years younger and your have a winner :D

Great display of your skills though.

  • Steven Novak replied

I actually think you hit the nail on the head Alan. I was never completely happy with the pose. I like the color. I dig the little sparkles. The pose is a little wanky though. Oh well, live and learn.

hillarious, Steven. I know what you mean aobut never being able to portray whats in your head! AUGH! but you did well anyway!

  • Steven Novak replied

If only we had arms growing out of the sides of our heads that attached directly to our brains. ;) Thanks Yvette!

It might not be exactly how it was in your head but it is great. I like how Margaret reaches over to the mans chin. She is there and he doesn’t even know it.

  • Steven Novak replied

Well thanks Elisa, I appreciate it.

i love it; there’s a story in there. And who says older women can’t be suggestive? Some people are due a very dull old age!

  • Steven Novak replied

I completely agree. The only problem is that I never intended for her to look suggestive…yep, bad drawing on my part. ;)

you’re so great at creating characters Steven,
and this is no exception :)
terrific work, gosh if I could even do a tree as well as this I’d be happy !

  • Steven Novak replied

You wish you could draw a tree as good as me, I wish I could handle a brush as expressively as you. We both suck? ;)

Need to invent a video camera that can transfer images from the brain to the canvas, & one that records dreams as well. But i like this as is, cool scene, great colors

To be honest I don’t find her pose terribly suggestive; that was someone else’s interpretation. She sitting as if she’s comfortable and relaxed; there’s a whole history in this picture

  • Steven Novak replied

I suppose one of the great things about art is what the viewer brings to the experience of it. I’m glad you like it Lee. I appreciate the kind words.
