Taken with a Nikon D60 at Maryborough, QLD, Australia. This is the statue of the beloved children’s character Mary Poppins, and it’s here because it is the birthplace of the author of the book, P.L Travers, who was born here in this building in 1899. The statue was made to commemorate her wonderful contribution to children’s literature on the 106th anniversary of her birth. I love the detail, even down to Mary’s carpet bag and parrot head umbrella ! :)
