This is the Grant tower at Urquhart Castle.
The rocky outcrop upon which Urquhart Castle sits was originally the site of a Pictish Fort and the building of the Castle complex was started in the early 1200s by Alan Durward. Over the years the complex developed and eventually the focus of life in the castle moved from the summit to a new set of buildings in what is now the inner close around the Grant Tower. Urquhart Castle was both a home and a defensive Castle and has seen its fair share of bloodshed including being besieged by the English army in 1296.
Urquhart Castle is the subject for a re-construction resin model
