A mid autumn scene looking towards the soldiers leap at the pass of Killiecrankie, Perthshire. The River Garry echoes the russet hues.
This is part of the field of battle during the 1689 battle of Killiecrankie fought between Jacobites under Viscount Dundee and the Royalists under Hugh McKay. After much bloody hand to hand fighting, the Jacobites forced the Royalists to flee the field. Today, this peaceful river gorge still has quiet echos of the clash of steel and the sound of musket fire.
