Born in Canterbury, Kent, in 1971, I have always been surrounded by beautiful countryside and varied and diverse coastline. Photography has become an outlet for expressing my love for the region.
4am!! Yikes! Worth it though – lovely shot mate. The 50/50 horizontal split works a treat in this one.
Cheers Dave, I think i’m going to have to leave the rises for a couple of months as they’re just getting silly now!

What an amazing reflection and love how this pans out into the ocean, is that a ship in the distance…… beautiful work of art Stuart, totally worth the early call :o)
Thanks very much Josie, the reflections were worth crossing the water for (I was standing in a small cove) and yes that is a ship on the horizon :o)
Perfect exposure Stuart, the light is fantastic and the reflections are so crisp for a 30 sec exposure. Really must get there soon
Thanks Alice, I needed a little HDR to pull the sky back as I couldn’t handle the range with the camera alone. The water in front was just a large puddle left by the tide so once my walking through it ripples had calmed down there was no reason for it to move. I’m contemplating trying all 20 odd bays and beaches in Thanet now
Great image buddy. Straight in the favs pile!
Thanks so much Jason and for the favourite too.
This is just magic Stu, Love the reflections and light!
Thanks so much Simone, I’d like to go back when the tide’s in so I can get some water movement too.
Great light and reflections Stuart.
Thanks so much Richard
Beautiful capture, Stuart. I love the ship in the far distance, and the reflections. Have a nice day, cheers
Thanks very much Ulla, I was aware there were 3 or 4 ships on the horizon but didn’t realise I had one in the shot until I came to look at home. Too busy lookihg at the relections I think.
Lovely image Stu.. superb colours. Very nice motion blur on the clouds and that band of sunlight thru the middle is magic highlighting the ship in the distance like that.I’ve pretty much knocked dawn shoots on the head for now too.. at least until August or so.Setting an alarm call for 2.30am is just too great a strain on my fragile equilibrium.. 8-]
Cheers Mike, I think August is when i’ll start up again, night shots are also becoming hard as it’s not pitch black now until half ten / eleven
this is a lovely capture dear Stuart.x
Thanks very much Catherine
Exceptional shot Stuart, instant fave for me.
Thanks very much Stephen and for the favourite too.
