Nice shot Stuart. The muted colours work really well here.

  • Cheers Jim, I was hoping for more colour but even this disappeared 5 minutes later

Nice work Stuart, don’t you just love being at the edge of the sea at sunrise? My favorite time I think… those rocks are interesting, almost like some kind of portal to a walled city… there goes my imagination again… :)

  • Thanks so very much Matt, you really can’t beat it. What ran through jy mind was having an enire bay all to myself on a Bank Holiday which would later be packed out in the middle of the day. Fortunately the best light goes hand in hand with the quietude which adds to the feeling I guess.

Another location that still only exists on my list of ‘must do’s’. Great capture Stuart, like the almost monochromatic look with just the hint of what could be a great day ahead

  • Tanks so very much Alice, it clouded over for a few hours but ended up not too bad for a bank holiday. I picked up a leaflet on the thanet coast from the tourist leaflet stand in the supermarket and it highlights just how many bays there are from pegwell bay through to minnis bay. Lots to put on a list and tick off. I’ve read that Kent has more miles of coastline than any other county, 350+ miles.

Excellent capture Stuart, really nice tones and composition. Going to have to explore the rest of these bays in Thanet, that’s for sure. It’s certainly worth the hours drive from here, especially at this time of year, when the sun rises so much further round the Kent coast.

  • Cheers Mike, as I said to Alice above there’s a fair few number of bays and sands in Thanet, some more accessible and easier to get to than others. What I loved about Botany Bay is that you can drive to the end of Botany road and the car park is 50 yards from the beach (no exageration). Small car park that’s a write off during the day but at half 3 in the morning I found it like the beach – it was empty and I had it all to myself.

This is stunning Stu, the colours, textures and light are amazing, wonderful tonal range and that sky is the icing on the cake!

  • Cheers Simone, the light like this didn’t hang around long, I had about a minute or less of vibrant pink in the clouds over the sea but by the time i’d sprinted across the beach to get the stacks in the foreground it had gone! I then had to run back to get this before those colours went too.
