Great composition to emphasize those incredible clouds but still retain other interesting elements. Wonderful shot! It’s amazing how clouds can be isn’t it? I saw a ‘mackeral sky’ one sunrise about 4 years ago, and I have never seen such a magic sky since, although I still think it will happen like that again one day.

spectacular sky mate, is it a long exposure?

I used to pass this village (Ratcliffe-on-Soar) every week for nearly 28 years, on my way to work at East Midlands Airport.
Stunning skyscape, similar to one I saw (and didn’t have my camera for) only the other day.
In answer to igotmeacanon, no it isn’t a long exposure. That’s the way the wind catches the clouds at high altitude. These are cirrus clouds, and sometimes known poetically as ‘Mare’s Tails’.

one of the best skies I have seen in a long time. Wow, great use of foreground, cutting it off at even less than 1/3. I love the composition here which accentuates and adds to the great composition as well.
