This is a combination of 117×30 second images all shot in RAW and then individually tweaked before assembling together in Paint Shop Pro through layers which took just over 3 hours in total. It is my 1st attempt at this kind of shot and the floodlit glow over the trees is from Canterbury Rugby Club a mile up the road.

Lot of work here Stu. Nice one – but it might pay to just crop the tree bits off the top

Good work Stu…..but I can see where you broke wind stood next to your tripod on shots 44, 65 and 93….the vibration has just spoiled the whole thing LOLLOLOL…...great effort Stu. I dont htink that I would have the patience for this. I think I would go to ISO 100 and leave the shutter open at f/15 over dinner LOL.

i admire your dedication stu, and the outcome is well worth it. i am especially impressed at the lack of hot spots over the trees. often times i struggle with the light source overpowering the rest of the image. congrats on a great shot.

Hehe – well we both know how much work is involved in a shot like this Stuart – and what a great result – the colours in the sky complement it beautifully and I’m fascinated by the way the lens has distorted the trails in opposite directions from the horizon to the top of the frame – I’ve never got that effect – looks superb.
Rosalie Scanlon
Beautiful work, excellent editing
