Shot narrative:
One of the beach shots from last weekend’s morning out with my friend Nick
These were the only clouds in the sky, so for a change I decided to shoot away from the sun slightly. You can see the difference from Nick’s shot here which was taken about 4 minutes before this one.
And Mel, this is the shot I remembered to use a bit of dodge and burn on.

WOW! awesome shot…THIS can not be folkestone it looks to good…

grinI like what you’ve done here Stuart. I probably wouldn’t have known if you hadn’t mentioned it, because your work with the dodge and burn tools must be subtle enough to add drama, but not overpower the image. That’s exactly the result you’re looking for! Beaut long exposure!!Andy Evans
Nice shot Stu, like the foreground pebbles, and you can’t go wrong with weed on the rocks.

The misty effect on the sea is beautiful, and I love the colour and texture in the rocks.

You’ve excelled with the soggy stuff this time – love that foreground just as the water ebbs and flows over the cobbles – just superb mate.
Steven Agius
Awesome shot, great colours and love how the water looks well done Stuart.
Paul Tupman
Mel is right… if you have used dodge and burn on this, then I wouldn’t have guessed either, although I would probably know what you did now… so in other words, great job on a subtle enhancement of a superb image. I love the effect of the water against all of the pebbles… a great contrast. Great stuff!
Elaine Harriott
Oh wow – this is so amazing!! I love the lighting, the misty feel of the water….its a brilliant peice of work! Your dodge and burn is very subtle and works perfectly, its sometimes a great effect produced like this to get a different perspective and not have the sun in the shot too. Lovely ;)
Rosemary Scott
Fabulous shot Stuart!! Love that soft subtle light, & that water in the foreground is unbelievable …. masterful use of long exposure!
Naomi Frost
Gorgeous capture, Stuart. The exposure is perfect – I love the misty water and especially the colour in the pebbles. The way you have framed the shot naturally leads you eye through the image and the subtle colour in the sky is beautiful. Naturally, I like it even more because it’s in portrait =-) btw, great job on the dodging and burning – you’ve got that mastered.

Think you ought to work for the Tourist Board – they’d be flocking here if they saw this one!!
