The magnificent, awe inspiring, over the top, impossibly complex, beautiful Milan Cathedral. According to Wikipedia it took six centuries to construct and was finished in the 16th C. It has been undergoing continuous maintenance ever since. When you stand on the roof looking up at the towering spires you wonder how they have remained intact all this time. I was told that there are over 3,000 sculptured figures on and in the building but no one has ever been able to make a precise count.
