Britain’s national gallery of international modern art is housed in the former Bankside Power Station originally designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott. Architects for the conversion were Herzog and de Meuron. The Tate Modern is the most-visited modern art gallery in the world, with around 4.7 million visitors per year.

    Ah! The old Battersea power station – I love that building. The tiny, tiny people give a sense of overwhelming scale (unless you pasted them in … perish the thought!).
