Willis building, London

Architects: Foster + Partners

The Willis Building won the 2007 New City Architecture Award for its unique architectural form and contribution to the streetscape and skyscape of the City of London. The building weighs the equivalent of 650 blue whales. No, I didn’t make that up, I just copies some PR crap.

Congratulaions, Robert, your work is featured in Cityscapes and City Skylines!

The contrast of varying shades of blue, along with the punctuated corners and curves of the building = a wonderful image! A little reminiscent of a 3 mast sailing ship – Well seen and captured!

  • Thanks for the feature and for your thoughtful comments. I too had seen the analogy of a ship tilting into the wind.
    Cheers! R

Lovely use of the lines, shapes and colour. Makes me think of some sort of abstracted sails. Very cool shot! Congratulations on the feature!

Normie does some great stuff and you’ve captured this one very well Rob – 65 blue whales, eh, who would have thought it.

  • Interestingly this was across the road from Roger’s Lloyds Building, hence my ‘Lloyds in Willis’ pic. I took many pictures of Lloyds but nothing that I was happy with. This by Bluerose is the one I wish I had taken.
    Cheers! R

Try this link instead Rob This by Bluerose The " " have to be done on the fly within this site, not curly ones from your word processor. Don’t ask why – beats me, lol.
