When you go into the swamp in the spring, you would be hard pressed to find a creature with a more intriguing song than the Sora (Porzana carolina). A mix between a slide whistle and a video game, it defies description. Like the Virgina Rail, whose song is akin to an oinking pig, when you first see this bird singing, it is very difficult to believe that such a small bird can make such a loud and unusual sound.
