The Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) is making a comeback in the Ottawa area. Nearly wiped-out as a species by the use of DDT in the 1970’s, the eagle’s recovery is nothing short of a miracle. To think, I might have had to go to a zoo or just look at pictures on-line to see this sight. As it was, I merely drove out to the west end of Ottawa on Jan 1, 2012 and voila!
