Surveying
The mighty Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus) is an awesome sight to behold. Graceful, beautiful and powerful, she is the ultimate killing machine. She is also a dedicated and affectionate parent. This adult female was perched on a branch after distracting a mob of crows by leading them away from her nest and young owlet.

Many years ago, long before digital. I stood for over 30 minutes just a few feet from a tawny owl too tired to move from its tree perch by the river…sigh LOL
