Wichita, United States

Artist's Description

The “Keeper Of The Plains” monument adapted from a sculpture by Black Bear Bosin. This metal sculpture stands over 180 feet tall and stands over the confluence of the “Arkansas” river and the “Little Arkansas” rivers in Wichita, Kansas. This “Keeper” monument is a tribute to the Native Americans that make up a big part of this state and the name sake for many of the towns here in Kansas, including the state name after the Kansa tribe and the Wichita tribe that was dominant in this area. I used [in part] picasa web albums free editing tools to add the color, which originally is a reddish color like that of primer.
