Me wife Gen traveled with her mother and father on Route 66 back in the early 60’s when she was about 15.
As an adult ahe has always wanted to go back for rememberance sake.
Passing through Springfield, Illinois she spotted a old motel off business 66, she remembered the curved road that you turned on to get to the motel, she had become sick and her parents had to stop and stay over night.
The trip was well worth it.
We bagan the trip in Bloomingto, Ilinois and traveled as far West as Santa Rosa, New Mexico before turning North toward Colorado as we traveled home.
We took our time and traveled the old 66 as much as we could paqssing through many old towns, towns that many people pass by because of time.
Many people travel the Interstate as it travels along Route 66, but as well as doing that we wanted to travel the old road as much as possible.
You have to be careful following the road as it will take yu to a dead end with no warning, it happened to us in Kansas.
All in all we had a great time.
About a 3 day trip from Green Bay, Wisconsin to Santa Rosa, New Mexico took us 7 days.
We sure took our time and it was a super trip.
