Unless The Lord is on Your side, You Are Almost Lunch
Whenever I see a Mountain Lion now it reminds me of when I was being watched from the bushes while I was taking a pciture of a river near Silverton, Colorado while on my way to a ghost town by the name of Annimas Forks in 1996.
I took a picture of the river, but wanted, movement in the water and needed my tripod, I went back to my vehicle to get it. When I turned to go back out and was about 15 feet from my vehicle I heard my wife Gen holler “Tim, don’t go out there, there is a cat watching you from the bushes”.
My wife had been reading a book when our dog made a very quick move in the vehicle getting my wife’s attention, when she looked she just happen to see the mountain lion wtaching me from the bushes.
The cat was there all the time when I was taking the first photo. He could have taken me down when I turned my back and left to get my tripod.
After my wife told me there was a cat watching me I decided it might be best to leave the water movement photo go. I figured I might not be so lucky if I went out there again and invaded his area a second time.
Who knows what could have happened when I turned my back to him the second time, that could have been it, I could have never got to my vehicle in time being about 50 yards from it.
Better to look a Mountain Lion in the eye from this photo.
(Viewing larger suggested) Hope you enjoyed the photo and the story, I will never forget the experience.

David Letterman once said that if you see a mountain lion, you can consider your life over, or something to that effect. Thankful that you didn’t end up as an entre. This one looks like he’s trying to decide between Italian or Chinese. I’m assuming this was at a zoo or refuge. I like the snow (in the photo, not in the present time).

What a story… YIKES!!! They are such beautiful animals and I do admire them so, but from afar… don’t think I’d like to hear that I was being watched by one either… but then, I’m kind of surprised you didn’t FEEL like you were being watched… as I know that feeling all too well myself from hiking experiences… ;~) This is a wonderful capture!!

interesting story, I have never seen a Mountain Lion even though I have been in the mountains on average of several dozen times a year. True most of the time the Mountain Lion is there and watching you when you won’t even know it, and that is probably the case with me too, I have seen Mountain Lion droppings in the past once on a 14,000 foot mountain Mt. Bierstadt and another on a road near Mt. Evans, so I have seen evidence of them
Tim Denny replied
Thanks Paul for the comment and your story is a winner too.
