Obsolete fun - Self Portrait

I guess this represents an era of gaming that I still love which is years obsolete. Though this may not incorporate all the various obsolete generations, including Ataris, Game Boy, NES, Master System, Dreamcast, PS2 or what not, but these consoles are those I cherish most from my childhood.

This is a self-portrait taken while shooting for the cover of a gaming magazine.

I’m from Adelaide, Australia.

    G’day SN,

Good to see you have joined Australian Portraits mate!

This is a great contemporary self portrait displaying firstly a very good photograph of your good self and secondly the hanging redundant “tools of trade” which clearly indictaes your interest and passion.
The image has been very well composed and all elements are clear, sharp and easily identified.
Get used to the seemingly never ending redundancy man. At the speed of progress today what you are now using wil be “old” very shortly.
    Great work!

Thank you very much for dropping by and commenting Dennis!

Oh, I understand the cost of redundancy—it’s ensuring all my cupboard space is full!

I had actually planned for this shot to include far more items and to be much clearer, however the only space I had was outside using the rigging builders had left behind from adding a second storey to the house. It was dusty, windy and my drop sheet got absolutely filthy in a matter of minutes.

In addition, the damn consoles and items kept turning around, not to mention how time consuming it was to tie all the string the right length, haha.

I’d like to set up this shot again with more gadets, and inside, so I can take a much cleaner shot without having to rely on blowing out the contrast and brightness post-production.

Regardless, I am very pleased with how this turned out and your comment makes me think it was actually worth the effort, haha.

I’ve dropped more than 56 hours into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since it was released. I think I’m addicted :(
