Wallaman Falls in North Queensland Australia.
This is a 268 meter single drop. (About 1,000 feet) The pool at the bottom of the falls is 20 meters deep.
The waterfall has a lot more water in it than usual at this time of year so I made sure I went there to see it today. The water is wider at the moment than it usually is.
There is another waterfall towards the right of the main fall. That is not usually there – there are tiny waterfalls all over North Queensland at the moment. Just about anywhere there is a rock for water to run over, there is a temporary waterfall.
If you want to visit Wallaman Falls you need to go to Ingham and drive west towards Trebonne. There are plenty of road signs to the falls – you just have to follow them and keep focused as there are lots of turn offs you can’t afford to miss. The road is narrow, the climb is steep and winding, and it gravel for some of the way. You also need to look out for cattle as for part of the way the bitumened road goes through various cow paddocks and there are cattle grids to drive over too.
I used my Sony compact digital camera for this photo.
