I’m with Mimi… I love this shot! I have something similar on some of my business fliers (I’m a massage therapist and do hot stone massage as well). This shot is heaps better than the one on my fliers though… I love the shades of grey and the dof… great work… : ))

i do this! i build these quite randomly yet every chance i get
in so many states, provinces and countries, my cairns may be found!
favourited your work instantly attacted to!
outstanding photography, focal point, vision, depth, compositon,
Beautiful work Larry … perhaps your tonal qualities in your work adds to the IMPACT
i know i noticed! =D
Larry Stewart replied 21 days ago
Hey, how is it goin’! So, you are the guy that builds these everywhere LOL. Thanks so much for the feedback on this picture, it really does help me.

Congratulations for your RedBubble Home Page Feature!
http://www.redbubble.com/
this is where i first saw your dynamic image
K Bock 21 days ago
i build them everywhere! i do
(well, not everywhere lol)
but i must say my inspiration to build them is quite random.
i think every one who is taken with the idea of stopping and taking the time to build a cairn should be noted, because there’s a reason
we all visit so many places on any given day. But YET how often have we actually been inspired to even think of it, and this can take hours or even days to gather the beautiful stones personally selected to build our cairn
K Bock 21 days ago
Did you build and make and construct this?
i cannot help myself i have to add another comment, i hope you do not mind my enthusiasm =D
I love the way these stones are so carefully balanced.
I imagine holding these stones in my own hand! and what it must be like to be there, having spent the day in this area, and so carefully gathered personally selected stones, step by step, level by level, and hold the stones ever so carefully so as to ever so carefully balance them PERFECTLY
i know what this experience is like, and love that i have found another Artist who loves to experience this as well
Larry Stewart replied 21 days ago
I don’t mind your enthusiasm at all! You are putting a smile on my face thats for sure. Here is what I did that day. It was a beautiful summer evening. I carefully picked out my stones and set them on some concrete that was being bathed by an evening sun ray. I laid on the grass for 35 minutes taking several shots, building and placing these stones in all kinds of arrangements. But this was the only one that really felt special to me. :)

still rollin with the flow :))
some may say “cast off” tucked away, simplicity, ordinary, simple …
and i say, “Whatever!
this is not just a photographic work this is a life experience
(of course, excellent photography :))
RedBubble Home Page Featured Work
Congratulations Larry, a most excellent subject
and most excellent photograph!
What a thrill !
here’s my thought: while you were lying on the grass .. arranging and rearranging the stones, carefully balancing the stones suddenly you found the perfect balance!
maybe that’s why it feels special to me too, because the stones are perfectly balanced
pennphotography 20 days ago
Sometimes the simpleness of a photograph really makes the photograph, here is no exception. Congrats on the home page as well!
Larry Stewart replied 20 days ago

Congratulations on your Home Page Feature on this beauty!!!! Balance. Important in life … as it is in art!!!
Larry Stewart replied 20 days ago
It always amazes (I guess it shouldn’t) that such a simple picture can have such an appeal. That is the key I suppose, is “no method” , do not try, just be. Thank you for the great comment. :)
