Themes from the goat track

The goat track is a metaphor for the spiritual journey. In the repetition of the spiritual path, endless monotony and infinite depth and variation compete for the mind’s attention, until both are seen as illusion. These images from a bush path can be envisaged as stages in the spiritual quest, sometimes repetitious, sometimes rich and varied but never less than essential. They can also be enjoyed simply as leaves, rocks, trees and the detritus that surrounds them and our feet, as we walk through the bush.
