I’ll get off the soapbox before I start, so you’ll hear very little about the critical role I think today’s artists have in exposing planet earth’s mudslide into insanity.
When I was 11 years of age, I tried to tear a telephone book in half as part of my one and only magician act in front of a school audience of more than six hundred students and teachers. I failed at first, but then succeeded by cheating – I halved the book.
I think I was born an existentialist. I love the absurd and the incongruous. Relevance is irrevelant – boring in fact.
I would rather die than take myself seriously – and yet death will swallow up my lightheartedness anyway, one day.
Without Monty Python, and a tiny 45rpm record entitled “The Children’s Party” by the Dandy Party of All-Star Players (I dare you to find a copy, as I think my family holds the only one in captivity) I cannot imagine even living, let alone who I might be now.
I find inescapable the image of the little all-male band that played aboard the Titanic as it sank.
Of the top five things I’ve wanted to do throughout my life, creating a “To-Do” list has always been number one.
I think we live in a timeless age. I only wish this had something to do with beauty or some kind of artistic renaissance or evolution of human consciousness.
I think Douglas Adams got as close or closer than anyone else to giving us the meaning of life – so with “42” saving us much time and needless waste of energy, let’s just express ourselves hey!
