There is raucous applause, I stand and grab the singers offered hand.
“For a human you play well.” he says grinning, canines subtly elongated and gleaming in the half darkness of the club Leo is still the only negro were-wolf I know.
“I’ll have to take your word for it.” I say grinning, supernaturals have been accepted in Australia almost since the beginning of the agreement, so he was nothing scary to me.
I walk out through the back door into the alley behind the bar behind the alley between sets and stare up at the sky my head spinning from performance high.
“Hello Mr.Piano-Man.” a husky sexy voice says, I jump. The voice laughs “I didn’t mean to scare you.” Rose walks into the cone of light thrown off by a hanging lamp.
“Hey there, thanks for this, it means alot.” I say, it is possible to talk to her all of a sudden.
“Do you ever feel like you’re in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing and ultimately never acheiving what your meant to acheive?” she asks, the sudden seriousness of her shocks me.
“Well yeah, but evryone does.” I say, looking at my feet.
“But every morning they wake up?” that stuns me.
“You’re starting to creep me out, there Rose.” I’m leaning against the wall so I can’t back off any more.
“What if i told you that it’s all true and i could change it?” she asks walking towards me. I swallow it sounds deafening.
“I’d say what’s the catch?” I say, she walks over to me, she is so close we’re almost touching, I look down then back up embarressed.
“A week of pain and you become an Illusionist.” she says it like it should mean something to me.
“A what?” breathing is making me dizzy she smells so good, her lips are slightly parted, the tip of her tongue runs along her top lip, a little pink triangle.
“Stronger and faster the a human, can bend the rules of reality around themselves, controls light and darkness, can alter the mind of those around them.” i feel drowsy.
“You doing it now?” i ask, she giggles.
“A little but not much, I’ve been waiting for you along time.” she says running a hand up my face.
“Where do i sign?” I say, just audibly. She stops.
“After your last set I’ll set you up.” And just as soon as she appeared she vanished. I sigh and walk inside again and sit at the piano the next three sets pass quicker then anything has in my life
I help Rose close up, Maurice gives me a knowing wink before leaving.
“Where are you staying?” she asks, just as I put the last chair on top of the last table.
“The Mariot three blocks away” I admit.
“Get your stuff and come over to mine, and to make sure you don’t chicken out.” faster hen she looks capable of moving she presses herself against me, goes up on tip toes and kisses me, after the initial shock, I go to kiss her back, she pulls away. I want to kiss her again. “A life partners kiss is addictive, here’s my adress.” She writes her adress on a napkin and leaves a perfect ruby red kiss on the napkin.
“I’ll see you in an hour.”
