well done Steve – like the lines and colours
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks Alan, August/Sept can be such a golden time here, occasionally a bit bare though once the harvest is done.
Rachel Davison
Steve this is beautiful – what a great artistic eye you have
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou, I’m always trying to train my eye to spot photos in less-obvious places – I’m getting there I hope!
Kurt Golgart
Sensational tones and composition. Superb photography.
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou Kurt, they just formed a diagonal line as I was passing, couldn’t resist them :-)
Karen Scrimes
Has an almost surreal effect. Great tones, light everything :)
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou Karen, I love that low slanting golden early evening light.
Elana Bailey
Sensational lighting, comp and tones. An instant fave. Well done, Steve.
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou Elana, and for the fav, these things are everywhere in late summer, and always bring my big lens out!
Paulette x
Excellent composition and light, love the graduated colour
Steve Sharp replied
Cheers Paulette, always fancy rolling one of these down a hill ;-)
Jan Timmons
Nothing like a nice seasonal shot, eh? Looks glowing and quite lovely to me. But you’re the artist. I’ll bet you secretly like it.
Steve Sharp replied
Oh I do like it Jan, I promise you! Thanks for the compliment, I was meaning that it was not in keeping with our current season, spring!
KathyT

Steve Sharp replied
Thanks Kathy, nice to hear from you.
Paulo Nuno

It does have a surreal feel to it but I like it :)
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks Linda, it reflects my world-view, it all seems surreal to me!
Caroline Gorka
Great lighting, comp, colour ..and yes..does look surreal..but great !
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks Caroline – I suppose they do look a little alien… I preferred the old-style haystacks personally, don’t see them any more sadly.
lucin
Wonderful leading line. :)
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou Lucin, a completely random leading line too!
Mark Ross
Wow, you’re a magician Steve. Love the graphic handling on this. Just remarkable!
Steve Sharp replied
No magician Mark, just developing my eye for spotting patterns in, well, everything!
Richard George
The eye of the artist at work…excellent
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks Richard, I wonder if the farmer considered the artistic lines he created? ;-)

Jennifer Woodward
I feel all nostalgic as i view this image, it reminds me of the carefree summer days of youth! Beautiful work! :-)
Steve Sharp replied
Ah yes, when life was so much simpler, the sun always shone (or seemed to) and we ran and ran… happy times :-)
Deborah Milligan
fantastic composition and colouring. I am loving exploring your folio, you have a great eye.
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks very much Deb, sometimes a random scattering of these things just doesn’t work photographically, this time they all fell into place just right!
straylight
Great photo.
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks very much, love these bales.
Fee Dickson
great shot. love the composition and colour in this.
Steve Sharp replied
Thankyou Fee, it was certainly a convenient line across the field, a happy coincidence!
Stephen Johns
Love the simplicity in this image!! awesome work
Steve Sharp replied
Thanks very much Stephen, they do lend themselves to minimalist shooting, don’t they?
Milos Markovic
Masterfully done Steve, this one is glowing with beauty and divine lighting.
I hope that I will snap one of those at least once in a lifetime :)
Steve Sharp replied
Do they not have these in Serbia Milos? I prefer the old square ones myself!
Jennifer Woodward
... and I ran so fast one day, cause my finger got caught in one of the strings holding together the biggest hay bail I’d ever seen! (well I was 10!) ... One of those things rolling inches behind sure makes you move I can tell you! Still love ‘em tho’, especially when they’re stationary ;-)
Steve Sharp replied
Ha ha, I have a vision of you being chased across a field by a rolling haybale, and being flattened cartoon-style… ok it wouldn’t be funny if it happened, but it was a funny vision! :-)
Jennifer Woodward
He he! Nooo! Don’t let the haybale get me!! ;-)
Steve Sharp replied
I’d throw myself in its path long before it hit you Jen! ;)
Milos Markovic
We sure have them, Steve, it is just that I need to get somewhere out of the town to see them… :(
