St Ana, Magozd
A stylised view of St Ana’s Church, Magozd in Slovenia; my favorite church anywhere, home or away. Its setting is idyllic and this defiant little church, which has survived colossal battles (the Isonzo Front ran right through here) and earthquakes which wrecked nearby villages, has a dreamlike quality to it which I haven’t found elsewhere.

Superb piece of work Steve….is it as sparse inside as it is on the outside??...it is a lot different than King’s College which I visited yesterday!!
Steve Sharp replied
Unfortunately this particular church seems to be locked up George, I would have loved to see inside it. I was in Cambridge a few weeks ago, have never visited the colleges before, very interesting it was too… I can feel a repeat trip coming on!

Hi!!
I was searching some stuff on internet and I found this…
I live in Magozd, in village just near this church…the pictures are awesome!!!!
Steve Sharp replied
Really?! Wow, I absolutely love Magozd, and could happily live there myself if I could find a way to do so! I could keep going back there again and again and never tire of it. One day, I am going to climb Krn too – it was impossible in February due to the depth of the snow though. You are very lucky to live in such a special place.

There are pictures that capture one’s imagination and soul. I love pictures that provoke thought- it tells a story, timeless and beautiful, of happiness and heartache and that indefinable spirit of hope. I really love this picture.
Steve Sharp replied
I’m so glad you sense the power of this one… I’m not a religious person but some churches just unhinge me at times, none more so than this one.
