Educated as a fine jewellery maker designer, I still make to order, but given the choice I like the balance of doing both. I guess jewellery is a bit more stressful, I always try and lose the angst and stress with paintings and work; I’m not choosing to replicate an era, genre or impress with a drawing similar to Michelangelo or Devinci;
but to have an adventure, fun , satisfaction, of the summer on my pallete in the bleak winter and an outlet to channel painting and its energy. It seems futile to paint and not exhibit the paintings. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as i did creating them. I make the frames myself and always use oils, lately I paint on board as well as canvas. I was studing for my MA – painting, but funds, writing and the need to just apply myself to painting,consumed all. Writing is such an immediate art form.
