Too Close to Comercialise
The Domes of Kata Tjuta are a sacred men’s site and photographers require a licence and cultural clearance to sell them. This one didn’t pass but as I’m not selling this image and just sharing it with you its ok.

Hey there Steve… stunning shot! Love the warm tones!!
Steven Pearce replied
It was a great morning I have a million shots just like this one but those horizontal lines in the distant clouds made it for me.

This is a beautiful shot and from an unusual angle.
I am pleased you wrote about the licence, these are so easy to obtain and I found the people running the area to be more than helpful.
Steven Pearce replied
Yep its easy as to get the licence… I wonder how many people selling images of Uluru and Kata Tjuta on Red Bubble actually realise that thay need such a clearence.
Still its only a matter of time untill they are “contacted”

Not just this site, I was on another photographic selling site and there were many photos there without mention of the licence. I sent a disc with cheque to site office to see which photos I could use and received back a list of yes and no together with a print out of each photo. So very helpful (and a return of my cheque too)

We do live in a beautiful world! What a fabulous capture, and I agree, the echo of the horizontal clouds and lines in the domes makes it a winner.
morena
excellent photograph, indeed clouds are supplementing the sky
Neil Boucher
Yet another great photo Steve. Does each image have to be approved specifically?
Steven Pearce replied
Hey Neil,
Yes every image but they are really cool people Ben is the new media officer in the rangers office and he’s well cool… a busy at this time of year but they get it done.
Once you have a licence you can just keep adding images to it and don’t have to go through the same process over and over. Oh yeah and its totally FREE to get the licence there not after maney they are just protecting the cultural heritage of these sacred sites. Some people get shitty at this but thats just a reflection of their attitudes towards… you know what.

That photographers need a license to sell images of Kata Tjuta….I like that. Places like these deserve the utmost respect. She definitely has a timeless presence that leaps right off the screen.
