The wreck of the St Martin De Porres by

The story of how the St Martin De Porres became wrecked in 1994 is an interesting story.

The owner built the boat in his back yard and sailed it around Sydney Harbour for a few years.

Now, sit right back and I will tell you a tale, a tale of a fateful trip that started on this tropic day aboard this tiny ship.

One day the dad and his 4 kids set out on a 3 hour harbour cruise, yes a 3 hour cruise.

They ended up breaking down, floating out of the harbour and travelling south, there was no radio or signal flares on board.

They were spotted adrift between the heads of Jervis Bay some 80 nautical miles south of Sydney where they were rescued.

The boat was also saved.

At midnight the same night the father and kids decided to head back to Sydney Harbour.

Sadly they decided to take the boat.

They drove the boat on to the rocks at Silica Cove, Jervis bay where her rusting carcass still lays.

The family were rescued unharmed.

Not sure if they ever built another boat.
