My response to the artist brief for the community art project moving. Three large scale digital canvases and an installation at the north end of the Midway Arcade (retail district in Ringwood).

Initiated by Maroondah City Council and funded by the Victorian State Government Department of Planning and Community Development, moving offers artists an opportunity to exhibit or install their work in vacant commercial buildings. The project explores how places can be transformed by artists and their communities through creativity and beauty.

Nice piece – I like the scale of this in the window.
Is it a digi canvas print? Would make a great screen print on some lovely stock also.

  • Thanks – the scale was as big as the budget allowed (1,220mm X 920mm each). Yeah they are digital prints. The quality is far better than I had hoped.

This is cool… I’m going through a massive Basquiat phase atm.. and this really hits the spot.

  • As you can see – I am in that phase too. Do you have any work inspired by JMB?

I love the freedom and organised chaos of Basquiat’s work.. I just started experimenting with painting. here are some which are little inspired by him.. http://lindsayblameysart.blogspot.com/

  • WOW – checked out your blog. Love the Panel pop typographic work. I want to experiment with the medium myself. The Rosalie Gascoigne inspired stuff is very cool and the urban and remix pieces on your own website are inspirational. How did you do an image transfer onto wood? Your painting with the retro colour scheme and emotional memories, oil stick textures is awesome. Love your iphone polaroids on Flickr too. You are a talented bastard. Tackling different styles, mediums, subjects with intelligence.

are the canvas prints you used for the exhibition from RB?

i went and had a closer look at this while it was there. really cool :)

  • No. The canvas prints I used were 920mm X 1220mm large format digital canvas prints from the supplier Officeworks use. They cost $230 each (second canvas only $170) but they are very good quality. The councils budget for my proposal included purchasing these. Glad you liked them. They’re hanging in my place now.

I dont think RB canvases go that large
