They come to australia to live sometimes, we call them rainbow bee eaters and the burrow in the ground. Captured well, beautiful image. I have had the rare pleasure of seeing them once or twice.

Thanks for the nice comment! I’m not a birder but I belive (and have just looked on google images) the the “rainbow bee eaters” is not the same as the “little bee eater”, but they do look quite alike!

Hey Steve, Awesome work! I tried (in vain) to get some snaps of these guys earlier this week. Failed dismally, they were smaller, faster and more flighty than i’d envisaged. Going back there at 5:30am in a weeks time to try again. This is a superb shot, perfect focus and composition on a really tough subject to even get any photo of! This is one of the best ive seen!
