Gorilla
WILD AND FREE
To spend an hour with Mountain Gorillas is one of the best wildlife experiences you can ever hope for. They captivate you with their eyes and you become lost in the moment. Your time with them goes so fast you are left just wanting more…
This large Silverback was only a few meters away from us!
Unfortunately, Mountain Gorilla numbers are small, with only approximately 700 left in the wild. The primary threat comes from forest clearance and degradation, as the region’s growing human population struggles to eke out a living.
I am hopeful ways can be found to control these problems before it is too late.

Hey, great shot. I know how you feel. Spent an hour with the group in Bwindi Impenetrable National Forest in Uganda many years back. My shots aren’t that great however because they were down in a dark valley when we eventually found them. I will never forget the baby hanging from a branch, gazing over at us curiously with his big brown eyes, as he munched on leaves half heartedly. Definitely an amazing experience, and extremely unforgettable!

I work to support Wildlife Direct and I have a huge passion for these close cousins of ours, It was a proud moment for me when I met and listened to Dian Fossey speak in Kenya, just months before her death. I thank you so much for sharing this experience with us here – and this boy has melted my heart !
