Demanding Respect

Demanding Respect

One reason I love animal photography is the unpredictability. There was no warning that this venting of anger was going to happen. It was there and gone in seconds.

Note: If he gets this mad about having his picture taken, what is he like when he is really angry.

Note: In my teenage years I would have paid a great deal of money to have a poster of this for my room. I guess I haven’t grown up much. I want a poster of this.

(Taken in the Los Angeles Zoo with a Nikon D300 using an Nikkor 80-400 f3.5-5.6 lens. Five different exposures of one image was combined into the HDR image above).

Steve, this is such an amazing shot, congratulations on capturing the moment.

So many shots show such animals as content and docile,( almost toothless) but in this one you have captured his Dominant Spirit, and he has obviously captured yours and hence the reaction to you…You showed him your lens, and he showed you the one he sees the world through. Imagine what his shot would look like if he could take it- the faces looking back at him!! OMG..)

Your talent and perception is so uplifting.Such great work.
