Protect the Untamed
Just to the right of this scene sprawls one of the largest cities in the world—Los Angeles. It is a testiment to what can be achieved by protecting our environment. That we should destroy our beautiful untouched land in order to solve immediate problems of the day, such as high gas prices makes me ill. It is short-sighted in the extreme. I think we as photographers are doing something about it when we capture the natural beauty around us. Keep up the good work everyone (Taken in Angeles Crest National Forest in California)
(shot with a Nikon D300 with a Nikkor 17-55 f2.8 lens. Five exposures were combined to make this HDR picture)

awesome shot Steve !!! I totally agree with you . Where I live in Australia , is on water restrictions….we have had no decent rainfall for over 10 years. and our dams and reservoirsare drying up ... I have a photo somewhere in my folio titled ‘Parched” it’s of the place where our water supply comes and it is almost dry. !! Good on you guys for protecting your resources !!! Jane
Steve Buffington replied
Thanks Janey. I wish we did much more and these lands always seem to be in danger of the whims of politicians and the vested interest groups. Literally scares me.

Eva and Klaus ...
This is a perfect work! I know how difficult it is to catch the whole atmosphere of mountains, almost impossible with one shot!
I also like your comment on the photo and I feel the same!!!
Steve Buffington replied
Thank you. I am glad I am taking shots when techniques such as HDR exist. In my book HDR and other techniques make the shot look more like the actual physical subject looked like than earlier when only film existed. I guess you could tell that my words with the picture were heart-felt. I am glad you agree.
Charlie08
Incredible work!
Steve Buffington replied
Thank you Charlotte. Appreciated.
JRobin Whitley
