This is an oil pastel drawing I did based on this photo of a 1982 Ferrari Mondial Quattrovalvole that I spotted in the parking lot of the Loblaws supermarket on Merivale Road in the Ottawa suburb of Nepean last July.
It’s drawn on a 28 inch by 22 inch piece of poster board (Bristol Board/white card).
The Mondial Quattrovalvole is, by all means, a lovely car, but, by Ferrari standards, it’s relatively cheap and relatively underpowered. But this particular Mondial has a special significance to me because I had spotted it being driven on Merivale Road many different times over the span of two years prior to taking the original photo, but, each time I saw it, although I always had a camera on me, I never was able to aim the camera and snap the shutter in time. It wasn’t until I spotted it parked on that magical July afternoon that I was able to capture its magnificence with my lens, and I thought this achievement made the “elusive Merivale Mondial” a prime candidate for a drawing.
