My Bedroom View

This is one of my very first sunset shots. The weather has been really nice and has made some very lovely sunsets. I happen to live on a hill which overlooks the San Gabriel Valley and this view is taken just to the south of my house. Downtown LA would be towards the right, facing this image. The sun lit up the sky and I pulled out my tripod quickly and tried to figure out the exposure. I took about 8 photos and this one came out the best. This was taken inside my bedroom. I have a balcony outside my room, but I thought taking it inside the room would be more cool hehe :)

This was taken with a Canon Elan, 100mm lens, 35mm film, and shot at f4, 38 secs. taking into account reciprocity failure from the film.

    to be quite honest i think you did a great job, some landscape to add element of silhouettes, add depth, great colors and all the play in the clouds are shown, works for me

    Hi Cheryl. Yep, right inside my bedroom I have a sliding glass door which leads to a balcony. I decided to take this from inside my house with the door open hehe :)

    This is magnificent and especially viewed larger. I agree with the other comments that the silhouette of the trees against this fire red sky is absolutely beautiful – you have captured the cloud texture and it all adds up to a great shot mate!!

    Thanks Brian :) yea, the rim is interesting, it was the reason I took it. I didn’t know the colors in the sky would come out so pronounced :)

    this is very nicely done, Steve. I wonder if the fires are adding to that color? I’ve heard they can affect sunrises/sunsets. anyway, beautiful color…love the setting…lucky you to have it right outside your window! :)

    yea, got luck about 10 years, got a really big two story house on the top of a hill, so its easy to see sunsets :)

    haha :) Actually I can see part of the sunset from the bed, but I cannot take a photo of it, so maybe I should move my bed outside onto the balcony, then I can say I took this photo from my bed !

    Hi Karon. Yes, I changed it.. It use to be a stupid name and bad description lol, so I guess some people actually liked it, so I changed it to something more normal. Cool, you are like 1 hour away from me :)

    oh ok.. Lets see the original title was “my first sunset shot, probably my last,” and I really didn’t think anyone would comment or like it, since I don’t have a good eye for this type of work, so after reading some of these comments and then being featured, I changed the title and the description to something more normal ROFL :)
