Alabama Rolling Hills
The Alabama Hills in California’s Owen’s Valley shows great cloud patterns and unique rocks leading up to Mount Williamson in the Sierra Nevada range. The Alabama hills is located west of Lone Pine, California where many motion pictures have been shot.
Alabama Hills is basically a series of hills with rounded countours that wind their way up to the Sierra Nevada mountains like Mt. Whitney and Mt. Williamson. This place is filled with trails and jumbo rocks and is a lot of fun to explore. The rocks are metamorphosed volcanic rock and granite. On your way up to Bishop and Mammoth this is truly a place you want to check out!

I can see why they would use this area for westerns….looks untouched by man. Love that dramatic sky with the clouds casting their shadows over the hills below. This shot just draws me in. You really captured the beauty of the scene you were seeing, Steve. Feels like I’m there. :) karen
