Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend

Horseshoe Bend is just one of those places in Arizona you have to visit as you make your way towards Lake Powell, Page. To get there, you travel a few miles south of Page on Highway 89 and head off onto a dirt road just past the mile marker 545. You then walk a few hundred yards or so to the plateau which looks over the Colorado river, with no railgaurds – Be careful!

In late summer or early fall, the temperatures can get well over 100 degrees so make sure to carry drinks, hats, and a wide-angle lens. You cannot capture this image if you have a lens under 24mm.

Horseshoe bend is approximately 1100 feet high with Echo Peeks to your west and the Paria and Colorado rivers in view. The Colorado river makes a full bend and the reflections make it appear green-blue at times with amazing red and brownish rocks and jagged areas surrounding the hole. The one things we found on our trip was that shadows and clouds sweep by this vista so quickly and its worth staying around for several hours.

Horseshoe Bend belongs to the following groups:

! 100% !, Creative, Talented, and Unknown, Fine Art of Landscape Photography, Horizons, Technical Photography and Your Magic Place (PLACES only!!) Available for sale as
