Congratulations , Steve . You won the challenge. Well done. I am very happy for you ;-)

  • Steve Axford replied

Thanks Esther. It’s not often that you find two little bubbles on a water drop on an interupta. And all at Liffee Falls too.

You know I hardly can get these blue Mycena species sharp. I find them little buggers to make an image of. You must have a very good camera or I must do something wrong. I managed to get a shot from underneath yesterday. The best one since a long time. Yours is amazing!!!

p.s. I didn’t win (which I am not dissappointed about).

This one was taken with a very special lens as the mushroom was no more than 1cm high. The lens is a Canon MP-E 65mm and really has to be used with a flash – in this case a macro twin flash. It is all hand held, but this is a merge of 2 exposures to get that extra depth of field. It is quite expensive and it isn’t very easy. I know of people who have given up with that lens as they can’t get it to work.
