A reflector (a piece of foil or even white paper will do) to throw some light onto the bottom and a tripod do for most. The very small ones are usually flash because a tripod is very hard with the very strong lens, but natural lighting is usually best.
They are certainly worth a second look. I guess I’v tended to specialise in colour, because we get some very special coloured fungi, but they all have their beauty. They are very important too.
What a beautiful pristine set of Mycena!!!!! So intricate in detail and so delicate in form and colour. Wonderfully lit and exposed and photographed with a very good depth of field and focus. I really like the off centred composition that allows the light to spill in over the moss covered log. Most interesting and enjoyable fungal viewing.
