Hi, I’m an ex long-term military (Royal Australian Air Force) senior photographic officer and also a Satellite Remote Sensing (Earth Imaging) specialist. After forty-three years of technical photography, people management and space-based telescope imaging of the earth (and the tops of clouds) I now find myself picturing what’s happening under those never ending clouds.
After basically being replaced by three networked computers in my final job Marie and I moved to Brisbane from Canberra in 2003 to be warmer and also to be closer to family, including our three wonderful grandchildren. My photo passion is mainly nature-type photography, stunning landscapes, sunrises and sunsets and sometimes macros. I image just about anything that catches my eye. I use a Panasonic FZ-70 digicam. This camera has an x60 optical zoom which I find great for my nature work.
I became deeply involved with the early days of digital imaging in the late 1970s, in the military, and for the past three decades have watched with much interest the transition and advances of this technology from military and scientific applications to the wider world-wide civilian community.
Greetings, / It was so good to return home yesterday after my total left knee replacement. The procedure went very well and I’m now on the longish road to recovery with lots of exercises to do over the next few months. I can’t wait to be able to walk “straight” again and get out and back into (unhindered) picture taking. / Warm Regards, Steve
Greetings my Redbubble friends. / After hobbling around for almost a year I’m entering hospital next Monday for a total left knee replacement. I know what to expect, having had a half-knee replacement in my right knee almost two years ago. / It seems that I have an early onset of advanced osteo arthritis that has affected both my knees in the past three years. This condition came upon me …
I had a pleasant surprise this morning when I learnt that I had just sold another calendar. This one is “The Koalas” and is the second of this one that I have sold. / To the mystery buyer I would like to say a huge thank you. You have made my day even better. / Steve
Grettings My Friends and fellow Red Bubblers, / I will be away from my computer from 19th – 26th August, inclusive, on a short trip to Melbourne and Hobart. I hope to gather some nice images in central Melbourne and also in Hobart and at historic Port Aurthur, and look forward to sharing these with you in week or so. / Take care, / Steve
