“That’s a big chunk, mom!”
Baby lion, born in Artis, Amsterdam Zoo on May 14, 2011. It’s a girl, but I’ve not discovered yet what her name is… The now 8 months old cub is growing well, and seemingly enjoying her meal with the vigour of a true lioness.
the Netherlands, Artis Amsterdam zoo, 2012
Edited Feb.07: I was in Artis again last Saturday, and I asked a zoo-keeper. This little beauty’s name is: Kianga – a Swahili name meaning “Burst of sunshine”

The African Lion ( Panthera leo – Wikipedia ) is on the IUCN list of threatened species, status: vulnerable.
Most lions now live in eastern and southern Africa, and their numbers there are rapidly decreasing, with an estimated 30–50% decline over the last two decades. Habitat loss and conflicts with humans are considered the most significant threats to the species. (source: Wikipedia)
